The Toyota Vios is one of the most common cars in Malaysia, which mean most people simply do not value the car. Being a 5 year old car from this owner, he finally decided that the car needed a revival. Read on to find out how horrible is a 5 year old maintained only by road side washes.
Upon arrival, we immediately were able spot some severe damages.
They were all basically around the car.
Because the car was washed earlier, it was pretty clean and easy to spot for damages.
The sun was out so, sun shot reveals the true condition of the paint.
More paint scuffs.
The fuel door area was surprisingly clean for its age.
Merely a little stain.
Moving on to spotlight swirl spotting.
Visible swirls on silver/light grey toned colours might not be visible but we still try to spot it all.
Swirls on the doors.
The interior was in pretty dull shape. The owner also mentioned he spilled coconut water a few years back and it has stained that spot for a long time.
The seats were greasy and stained.
You can obviously spot the dark leather patterns.
Steering was glossy and greasy.
B Pillar plastic panels were stained.
We first dealt with the seats. Here is a 50/50. Cleaned (left) Dirty (right)
B pillars were cleaned and restored.
Remember greasy seats, Before.
As for the coconut water stain, this was the maximum we could clean and restore.
As usual, the glass is covered in watermark.
Rear windscreen was the most severe part of the watermark build up.
After removal of the watermark build up.
We cleaned every area of the car including the fuel cover.
After the wash, we can obviously see that the surface has no protection.
Paint surface corrected.
On other areas, we achieved a swirls free surface as well. Surprisingly we were able to restore most of to a swirl free condition.
Finally, after 2 days or more than 20hours working of the car. We protected the car with Opti-Coat™Pro and check out the finishing.
Its not the first time we worked on a car like this, such size yet having such luxurious stance. This Mercedes GLC had only been owned for less than a week. Being a massive upgrade for the owner, he decided that protection is a must, hence we are here to sort him out today!
Upon arrival, it was slightly drizzling, hence the bonnet was a little wet.
We did the routine inspection to check for obvious damages, but there was none.
We checked the areas that is usually filthy, but it was clean.
We expect the paint to be spanking new but again, we were wrong.
The paint had some significant damage on it, although not very visible due to the colour.
Lucky for us, the sky was gloomy and we were able to capture on camera.
Other than that, the paint was smooth and the dealership did some waxing on the paint as well.
Not forgetting the typical road contamination.
We spent quite alot of time washing the car in detail to make sure it squeeky clean.
Further detailing this area to make sure its 100%
After much inspection around the car, we found out that only this area is affected by swirls.
We did some paint correction on the damages.
Zoom in and you’ll notice a deeper yet non visible RIDS (random isolated deep scratch)
And finally to a swirl free surface.
Upon finishing all paint correction, we noticed some polish splatter on the plastics. It was definitely not from us as it was already dried up.
After some magic with a tooth brush, we sorted it out.
The wheels on the other hand were on the dirty side.
Mostly due to brake dust and rain.
After spending too much time on just the wheels alone.
We coated to protect.
Finally, the entire car was coated with Opti-Coat™Pro and check out the captionless finishing.
We have a pretty rare car on our hands this round. Its a vintage Lotus Esprit fully restored to factory standard. It was briefed by the owner himself that it was repainted by a very skillful painter and also the colour chosen was from the Aston Martin Vanquish! This is the 4th car the owner had us worked on. Well, lets begin.
Upon arrival, the car was parked in a semi covered area, whereby tree leaves, tree sap, and bird droppings were visible.
Without wasting time, we proceed to inspecting the paint. Its was almost mint but with some coarse finishing from the painters.
Some light contamination and also haziness on the clear coat.
The paint was not at its best state but its nothing major.
Zoom in and we spotted some keep swirls on the frontal part of the car.
Some minor uneven clear coat.
a deep scratch.
Another visible deep swirled area.
From far, these swirls are not very visible, but it doesn’t mean we skip it.
We gave the car a wash, clay and immediately started on the paint correction.
So after the paint correction, we restored the colour and also removed all of the swirls.
A closer zoom in look on the paint condition.
The wheels were also repainted and it was a pain in the a** to clean. We manage to clean up all of them and got them coated.
As for the results.
So, Since our last makeover, the owner was quite please with our with and decided to book us for the wife’s car. This is a 3 year old under utilized Mazda 6 but of course, it was poorly maintained as well. Else there won’t be a post like this for us to write about.
From the walk around we find the car to be rather “shiny” in its natural habitat.
as we investigate closer, we found some watermark issues on the paint.
Reflection wasn’t really reflecting nicely.
There were some tar spot issues on the lower panels as usual.
The common rain stains were visible as well. Not from far but from a nearer view.
Although its not very visible on photo but swirls existed.
The haze reflection from the LED lighting indicated some oxidation forming
Its only extremely visible when shot in a pitch black condition hence this is what we can show at the moment.
Coming to some deep scratches on the hood.
We washed the car as usual and also took the trim cleaning very seriously.
Being a 3 year old car, we expected this area to be heavily stained.
and we were right!
There were also some rust build up.
We did some test spots to brighten up the paint. The small spot on the left is a shrapnel of the polishing pad sponge.
The colour difference is major!
After some paint correction, the clarity is restore and the colour of the car immediately darkens into a wet look.
Pre-Coating shot shows a much reflective and well prepared surface.
As for these 3 years old wheels. It was the usual day to day road grime.
The colour of the tires shows an obvious “never been scrubbed” condition.
The brake dust build up is not extreme.
As usual areas like these are skipped during the normal washing routines.
The scrubbing begins. But unfortunately we forgot the Afters…
The glass was quite heavily stained as the car is usually parked outdoors.
After washing we can obviously see the watermark islands.
On the left, watermark stained the entire glass. On the right, a fully treated glass panel.
A closer look after the glass has fully dried up. No visible watermark.
Finally, after coating, the results were quite pleasing. Wet look achieved.
This, in our opinion is one of the best looking Proton car ever made, From looks, performance, even to the wheels, is good looking. Unfortunately, its locally made and lacks the quality. Paint work is not a main concern when manufacturing low budget cars, Hence we are here to enhance the paint work for the car the last longer with its shine.
Upon arrival, we can see that the car seem to be in a good, glossy and shiny state which is also common as Proton sales representative will never put the extra effort to get the polishing or waxing done for its new clients.
The car is barely few days old when we arrived. Visible weather stains can be found
On the areas that water flows down, stains are visible.
There were some tar spots, although minor but still a pain in the butt
Tar spots were removed.
Paint was given a light polish as there were no visible swirls.
At a different spot.
This post was written to show that we are professionals, even when it comes to local cars with bad paint work. Although it is not a very expensive car, the client was still willing to spend to protect. What are you waiting for?
