Its has been a while since we had a posting because we are actually in the mist of switching into another platform to showcase our work (Youtube). Anyhows, Here we have an Kia Optima K5, one of the most luxury Kia can offer to you. The owner, has had 2 cars done by me already and wanted the last car (the wife’s car) to be detailed and coated as well.
Upon arrival, the car looks decent from a distance but you might know, I am never impressed with that.
Just by the standard walk around the car, we already see many stains.
Stubborn stains leftover from the rain.
A deep scratch with some bacterial/fungus growth on the edges.
More black stains.
Even the door handle area is so black, we had to use a cloth to open the door. (It was that disgusting.)
The general view of the car was not even close to acceptable. But of course, that is why we are here.
The fuel door, when we poped it, scare the hell out of me.
Paint condition wide, we see lots of swirls.
More swirls found on the bonnet.
The swirls might not look severe on photo due to the colour but trust us, it is very severe.
So we started of with the decontamination. Before. Disgusting??
We kept rinsing the edges and it just didn’t stop spitting out black stuff, so we decided to remove the chrome trim. To our HORROR!
After cleaning the area.
So after hours of cleaning, we started with the polishing. On the left, the panel looks way darker than the original colour. You can see the line right on top of the Kia wording.
After paint restoration. Following photos were taken under the sun.
After hours of restoring the paint, this was the final outlook before we washed the car in preparation for the coating application.
We applied Opti-Coat™Pro Plus as the finishing and the car stayed with us overnight. Imagine the look on the owner’s face when he saw the car the next morning.

MSIG Insurance (Malaysia) Bhd (MSIG Malaysia) has launched Home SafeGuard, a new home protection policy.
As the 2nd largest Fire Insurer* in Malaysia, MSIG’s Home SafeGuard is a home insurance product that encourages the use of Persatuan Insurans Am Malaysia’s (PIAM’s) online Building Cost Calculator (BCC) tool. Homeowners can obtain an estimated rebuilding cost for their property based on the current market rates for labour and materials. PIAM has engaged a Professional Quantity surveying company to provide credible building cost index data into the BCC on an annual basis.
Previously, homeowners could only obtain a rebuilding estimate through a Registered Valuer and, as a result, many homeowners did not regularly update their property’s ‘insured value’ as engaging a Registered Valuer can be both costly and/or time consuming. This is a problem because the costs of rebuilding may rise every year due to increased cost of building materials and labour charges. As a result, some homeowners, when struck by misfortune, could find that their home insurance pay-out would not adequately cover the increased costs, particularly if enhancements and renovations had been made to the property.
By using the PIAM’s BCC tool to value their own properties, MSIG hopes to simplify the renewal task, making it much easier for customers to review their property sum insured and thereby having certainty of adequacy and avoid underinsurance especially when a home is usually the single biggest investment for most Malaysians.
To encourage consumers to use PIAM’s BCC tool, MSIG is providing Home SafeGuard customers a significant up to 30% discount on their premiums, as well as other new benefits.
- Constructive Total Loss
If the cost of rebuilding exceeds 75% of the sum insured (Agreed Value) in the event of a loss, MSIG will pay the full agreed amount, even if the full rebuilding cost is not 100% of the sum insured.
- Enhanced Coverage For Bursting or Overflowing of Water Tanks, Apparatus or Pipes
MSIG’s Home SafeGuard includes additional coverage (up to RM5,000) in the event of an incident caused by burst water pipes, damaged water tanks. Standard home owner insurance only covers the resulting damage (i.e. replacement of damaged cabinets, etc.), but Home Safeguard will also cover the complete cost of repair, including the cost of any wall hacking, replastering, and painting required.
- Automatic Increase in Sum Insured of Contents (applicable to Full Value Basis)
Purchasers of Home SafeGuard also have the option to insure their home contents at the same time. If customers opt to add-on home contents insurance, MSIG will automatically increase the value of the contents sum insured by 10% during the period of insurance. Everyone tends to purchase new items throughout the year and may forget to declare these items to the insurer, but with Home SafeGuard, customers are still covered additionally up to 10% of the sum insured. However, MSIG does advise that customers still report any purchases that may exceed the 10% value in order to avoid underinsurance.
- MSIG Home Assist
Home SafeGuard policyholders will also be able to use the MSIG Home Assist app which provides customers with our value-added services including referrals to qualified contractors as well as easy claims submission and tracking.
Mr Chua Seck Guan, MSIG Malaysia Chief Executive Officer explains why MSIG introduced Home SafeGuard, “A fire or a flood can be really devastating for homeowners, and sadly many are under-protected. Even those who have had the foresight to take out insurance can discover that their insurance pay-out does not adequately cover the rebuilding cost, especially if they do not review the sum insured of their house. That is why we are delighted that PIAM developed the Building Cost Calculator tool which makes it much easier for home owners to calculate the current rebuilding cost for their homes. Our Home SafeGuard insurance leverages on PIAM’s tool capabilities and we are offering up to 30% premium discount in order to encourage home owners to use it and ensure they are properly covered in the event of misfortune.”
“We want to educate consumers about the importance of regularly reviewing their home insurance and the sum insured, which is why we developed the Building Cost Calculator to make it much easier for people to get a realistic idea of the current cost of rebuilding their homes. And we are delighted that MSIG Malaysia has decided to promote the usage of the tool in their new product”, said Mr Mark Lim, Chief Executive Officer of PIAM.
Mr Chua, concluded, “MSIG is one of the largest fire insurers in the country and we have been protecting Malaysians for over 100 years. We are very happy that the insurance detariffication, which took place last year, has allowed us to develop new innovative products such as Home SafeGuard, which we believe offers Malaysians even more choice and peace of mind than ever before.”

Many drivers assume that their standard motor comprehensive insurance provides coverage when they are in e-hailing mode. However, this is not the case and the drivers will be at great risk of substantial financial losses if they have an accident while carrying passengers, not only from damage and injuries caused by the accident itself, but also from potential legal action by passengers if they sue the driver.
Introducing MSIG E-Hail E-Zee, a motor insurance add-on that all e-hailing drivers need. It supplements comprehensive protection by providing coverage when the vehicle is used for carrying e-hailing (fare-paying) passenger(s).
E-Hail E-Zee protects car, driver and passenger when in e-hailing mode:

- Damage to your own car, third party property and third party bodily injury
- Legal liability to passengers – if they sue you for the accident

E-Hail E-Zee allows for mid-term inclusion to your current MSIG Motor Comprehensive policy.

We have with us an almost new Porsche Cayman with us today. The owner purchase the car from another fellow enthusiast that claims to had upkeep the car to its tip top condition with many love on the exterior as well. But those claims were far from true when the paint condition was diagnosed. Read on to find out more.
Upon arrival, we had the standard walk around to spot for any irregular paint defects and damages. It had rained earlier in the morning and the water beadings are actually showing alack of paint protection already.
The first damage we spotted was some deep random scratches. Notice the water beadings we mentioned above, its safe to say that the paint had zero wax on it. Zero wax = zero protection.
As we move on, watermark etching was spotted too.
On the rear spoiler, you can actually see more watermark etching.
On the rear boot, deep scratches can be seen from miles away.
Constantly parking near a tree had cause some tree sap to also etch onto the paint.
Combine those scratch and tree sap, you get a pretty big mess!
After we wiped down the car, the earlier scratch is even more visible!
Now, here comes the shocking part! Check out the circled area. The sunlight at the time of the photo was not even bright but it is showing some really bad polishing marks. Probably done with cheap polishers, with the wrong polishing pad combination and the wrong product!
This condition can be seen throughout the entire car.
If its visible even on the softest lighting, its consider a horrible polish job.
As we dig deeper into the mess, we found some lighter scratches on the paint.
Now when we apply proper lighting, we can see that the so called “well maintained” was a scam? You be the judge.
More swirls and scratches around the paint.
Fuel door was also significantly damaged. Noticed the white spots around the door, those are the residue left over by the polish.
Swirls and tree sap etching is visible also on the front bonnet.
The swirl level is deemed to be at the critical stage, if nothing is done, the paint will start to fade and oxidize into a matte surface.
We spend about 2hours washing the car, claying and decontaminating the car of tar spots, metal particles, etc. It looks shiny now but its all an illusion!
After some fiddling with different polish combinations, we found the perfect one for the Cayman, check out the before and after on this shot.
As for the swirls and tree sap etching, This is a before.
This is an after shot. Fortunately, the tree sap did not etch into the paint and was removed with ease.
The result of restorations on the doors.
On the rear quarter panel which the deep scratches use to be at.
As perfect as we want to claim our work to be, it can never be 100% flawless. On the circled area, there is actually a leftover scratch that we could not removed. Might not be visible, but it is there.
After close to 6hours on detailing and polishing the car, its now the true black with the true shine.
Upon finishing the job, we did some videos, snap some photos. Check it out.
Most comprehensive motor insurance policies include towing up to RM200 for accidents, whilst towing for
vehicle breakdown may be provided by complimentary motor assistance programmes that may come with the policy. However, the towing services provided is often limited in terms of towing distance or the equivalent monetary value. For example, the towing of your vehicle to the nearest workshop or your home is free of charge only up to a certain distance. You will be required to pay the charge for the distance beyond the prescribed towing limit. This expense is often unforeseen by most vehicle users.
MSIG now offers 24-Hour Unlimited Towing Service as an optional Add-On to the MSIG Comprehensive Motor Policy that will be beneficial to those who travel on the road frequently, for both short and long distances. The Add-On provides towing for accident or breakdown for an unlimited distance within Malaysia, and a prescribed towing distance from neighbouring countries, up to six (6) times per year. At an affordable premium, the 24-Hour Unlimited Towing Service Motor Add-On provides you with invaluable peace of mind that you will not be left stranded or bear a hefty towing bill when the unexpected occurs on the road.*For
Here is an example to show how the 24-Hour Unlimited Towing Service Motor Add-On works:
Eddie lives in Johor and his vehicle is insured with MSIG. He is a salesperson who has to frequently meet with customers in different states within Peninsular Malaysia. Unfortunately, he met with an anccident while he was in Terengganu and contacted MSIG Motor Assist to tow his vehicle back to a panel repairer in Johor.
With an affordable premium of RM30 for MSIG 24-Hour Unlimited Towing Service Motor Add-On, Eddie does not need to pay for the towing service charges incurred from Terengganu to Johor.
^^ Toll charges are included in the service up to RM20.00 per round trip.
