Brand Feature #5 – January 2018 (www.optiautodetail.com)
A comprehensive motor insurance policy typically covers the repair cost of an accident. However, what most policyholders do not know is that for older cars (5 years and above), in the event of an accident and if new original spare parts are used in the car repairs, the car is deemed to be better than before. As such, policyholders will be expected to contribute to a part of a costs of the new original spare parts used. This is known as a “betterment” charge and the scale of contribution is stated in terms and conditions of the motor policy.
But you may ask why “betterment” charges? This is because Insurance is designed to take you back to the original condition before your mishap. Having a new part means your car is in a better condition now than it originally was. Therefore, “betterment” charges ensure policyholders do not end up profiting from the loss. It is a concept practice by all insurance companies.
MSIG now offers a Motor Add-On that waives the betterment charges for an additional premium. This will reduce the financial impact to a policyholder who owns an older car that uses new

At the edge of luxury, performance, and family comes the Porsche Panamera 4S. The owner of this sweet German  marque had owned this car for quite a while and decided that she finally needs a good detailing and coating for a long term protection. Check out what we find out.

Typically a car of this grade has relatively good quality paint work but when its in Malaysian whether, all kinds of scenario can surface.

We did our standard routine walk around to spot for obvious damages.

Tar spots and many chips off at the side skirt area due to the large wheels spitting rocks here.

Some rather permanent damages that is beyond detailing

Due to a low quality taillight tint, it started to become hazy and stained.

Some minor tar spot stains.

Some light swirl damage.

It is not very visible on some panels.

Some are more visible.

More swirl damage with some minor deeper scratches.

We first did a detailed wash together with some clay bar treatment.

After that we treated the tar spot stains.

Observe as you see the tar dissolving.

Now to handle the the paint restoration, here is a good example. Before.

After.

Another obvious Before.

After paint restoration.

After hours of non-stop detailing, we were able to achieve a near 90% swirl free finish.

Some areas had white dots around the light as the paint is a solid white paint.

Final check before we applied the Opti-Coat™Pro

Since the car is not that new, we did a quick polish on the headlights to remove any oxidation.

As for the wheels, it was rather clean. The detail was actually at the gigantic 6pot calipers.

Usually neglected due to the tight areas and its rather hard to reach without proper tools.

After spending much time cleaning the calipers.

Even at the tight spots.

Final finishing after Opti-Coat™Pro

As we finished up the coating application for the ride. the sun was setting and check out how sleek it looks at night!

Its rather hard to describe this car. But imagine this, you walk into a used car lot having only 1 thought to buy a white Honda City that is within your budget, this one was there, without thinking too much you buy the car. After coming home with the car, you start to realize there is lots of stains, lots of dirt, different tone on the white, swirls everywhere. Now you feel the <Buyer Remorse Syndrome> , but fear not because you know this guy that could sort you out. So, now you get the idea? Lets begin then.

For starts, we see swirls.

Stained paint if you look at the corners.

More stains and swirls.

More discovery on the paint damages.

Most of these are caused by long exposure of acid rains and also lack of maintenance.

A clearer image of the swirls can be seen when we did a sun shot.

Similar conditions appears all over the car, so now you get the idea of what we are facing.

Rain stains or acid rains stains are visible on these common areas.

The typical day-to-day bird dropping splatter.

The mini dots you see are tar stains, but in this picture we can see, tar stains rain stains on the paint and also near to no reflection on the bumper.

The door handle area are also covered in fingernail scratches.

Over the years, dirt will build up in areas like these.

You might notice we always say that the area behind the fuel door is the dirtiest place around the car, this would be next level.

With a combination of an unknown adhesive.

The area was also stained with dirt from rain water.

Let us be straightforward with you guys , don’t get us wrong, we love these type of cars because its the foundation of our business and this is the perfect car to showcase what we can do and to what extend we can restore a beat up ride. So check this out.
Before Fuel Door area.

After much detailing. Close to new?

After many hours of just cleaning, it was almost evening. Gloss can finally start to surface after alot of claybar action.

Lets look at the paint restoration. This is Before.

After paint restoration. Its common to see small little dots around the light on solid colour paints.

Surface restore to a near swirl free condition.

On other areas.

Pardon the wiping marks as its getting late and surface condensation is happening. Its rather hard to dry the surface for the photo.

The entire process took us right about 16hours in the span of 2 days. But it was definitely worth it when the car is restored to such a glossy and reflective state. Now that is what we call a Resurrection!
