Today we have with us a brand new Evoque. Aged about 1 week old, the owner notify us that the roof and rims were repainted into black to suit his taste. We were shocked to find…

Upon arrival, we did a quick walk around to spot any visible chips or scratches.

It is rather dirty as it had been raining for the past week.

As it is a daily driven ride, some areas are covered in dirt and mud.

Some areas were covered in dust and sand from the rain.

Looks from far is always very deceiving because as we walk further and looked closer, the car was filthy.

Tight areas were covered in dust too.

We inspected the exterior with a LED on a few different panels and found that the paint is still in a good shape.

When we moved to the repainted area, we were shocked to find this.

We were told that the paint job was done by “Official Range Rover Paintshop” Is this the quality of workmanship you expect from a place like this? The owner himself was shocked to find out what a hack job it was.

The roof reflection was poor, dull and also covered in watermarks.

We gave the car a slow and good wash, reaching into every edge and corner.

Since it was a SUV, we were able to reach into the wheel arches.

It was degreased and scrubbed to a “like new” condition.

Here is a quick peep of after washing, a good washing.

Since we were giving it a good and deep clean, we detailed and dressed the engine area as well.

Next up, was the paint correction on the roof but before that, we did a few sun shots just to show how severe the condition was.

This was the original paint, it is in flawless shape while the top picture is the repainted and it looks horrible.

Prior the correction, a close up on the swirl damages. It is in fact very deep.

From further up it doesn’t look that serious.

After 1 pass of cutting, you can see the area corrected (Bottom) and the area prior correction (Top), yes there is still holograms as its just the first pass.

Here is the paint after correction.

The hack job the official paint shop produce didn’t look like utter crap until you see this. Same panel, totally different appearance.

Here are more shocking photos on the hack paint job.

Here is the result we produce.

Finally we gave the paint a quick polish just to clean and smooth out everything

The wheels required much attention as well since they were repainted.

Covered in the usual road grime, dirt, sand and brake dust.

Lug nuts areas will filthy as well

The wheel barrel area looks very dirty too but when we were cleaning we find our that it was not dirt only alone.

This is the wheel barrel after cleaning, notice some whitish areas, those are the failed clear coat during the repaint of the rims.

Finally we got the rims coated and protected.

The workmanship this paint workshop produce is so poor that they didn’t even mask the windscreen properly as there were some over sprayed clear coat on the windscreen.

And in multiple areas. We removed them and got the glass treated as well.

And as usual, the results will not be captioned for your viewing pleasure.

We have here with us a Toyota Prius today, being silver, it is very hard for a glossy and wet finish but we certainly produce the most spectacular results. Check out the process.

Upon arrival, we did a quick walk around the car to spot any visible damages on the body.

We saw some water on the rear windscreen and it was drying up quick from the heat.

We needed to move fast as the water may dry up and form light watermarks on the surface.

On the paint, the surface is not protected and dirty. Notice the water beadings are all scattered.

Generally, the is just covered is road grime, dirt, sand and dust.

Here are some of the dried up water on the front end of the car. This might cause some light watermarks.

On the windscreen, we found the similar dust from dried up water.

Grills were all dust and covered with sand.

We inspected the paint condition under sun. No holograms, swirls or paint defects found.

On a different section with a LED, the results were the same.

We inspected multiple sections to confirm the consistency of the paint around the car.

*Note that we inspected the paint work after washing process.

We cleaned the car thoroughly and areas like this were not missed.

Emblems were cleaned too as dirt tends to cake up in the gaps.

After the washing of the car, we took a short break and while doing that we gave the engine a quick clean and conditioning.

Moving to issues on the Glass. We found watermarks that ached into the glass.

After the correction on the glass, Ignore the wipe marks.

Some areas required polishing and here is the cleared and clean glass. *again, ignore the buff mark.

Then we coated the glass for the hydrophobic effect.

The wheels were not in a very dirty state, so we cleaned them and got them coated.

Check out the water beading on the surface.

Although hybrid models do not produce alot of brake dust, but coating the rims gives a convenience on cleaning!

Finally, We present to you a silver, wet, and glossy Toyota Prius.

Today, we are all the way at Melaka, the historical city of Malaysia. We have no prejudice on what car we work on, as long you love your car, we are always here to give your car our best.

Upon arrival, we inspected the car for surface defects, stains, scratches, and also got briefed by the owner on a few spots he noticed. From the exterior looks of the car, it is fine, clean and expected to be damage free, But….

The expected condition was not really satisfying. Although on silver, but it lacked definition on the reflection.

If noticed, there is a light hologram on the surface which is blocking the shine and reflection from popping out
We spotted more light swirls and hologram on some panels. It is not covered on the entire car so, we assumed that the dealership did some spot repairs but was not professional.

We found more holograms on the side fenders.

Even on the rear C Pillar of the car.

The dealership marked the roof as there was a 1mm dent but failed to remove the marker mark on the paint.

Surface tension was poor, had no water beading at all.

We moved to washing the car, claying and started correcting the damages. Here is a Before.

Here is the After

We continue to correct other section of the car.

Upon completing, we now see a clear, defined, round and solid reflection of our LED lighting.

We also removed the marker mark with some light polishing.

As for the wheels, we cleaned the exterior face of the wheel and also the wheel barrel, The different is not major as the car was just driven back from the dealership.. Before.

And the After.

Check out the beading on the rims

As we proceed to inspect the glass, we found that it is rough and had no water beading on it.

We dried off the glass after claying to see the watermark stains. This car must have been left outdoors for quite some time before sold to our lucky customer.

Another View.

After we removed the watermarks, we coated the glass with Gtechniq Exo as the coating is specially made for Glass.

After correction, hologram removal. swirl removal, watermark removal. we coated the car with Opti-Coat Pro or also known as Opti-Guard. Here are the results.
